Join us for this insightful talk exploring crime, stigma, and Calabrian identity beyond the myths.

Research into the ‘ndrangheta, a criminal organisation from Calabria, has constantly shown that both institutional and media narratives against the mafia can generate and consolidate bias and stigma against Calabrians both at home and in the diaspora. But what does this organisation actually do and how? And what can and can’t they do both in Calabria and abroad? How do we address that stigma? In this talk we explore identity, stigma, deviance, and crime on the backdrop of the preservation of Calabrian culture. Presented by Professor Anna Sergi and Vincent Morfuni KC.
