Leo Santalucia

I am a current member of the ACCA Board, and have been since November, 2019. I hold qualifications in accountancy, finance & taxation, and I am a Fellow Member of CPA Australia.

My interest in the Association emanates from my love of all things Italian, particularly the culture, cuisine & customs of its southern region, which I have been fortunate enough to visit & experience on several occasions over the years.

Similar to the traditional Australian migration stories, my parents emigrated from Montemurro (Provincia di Potenza – Basilicata) to Australia searching for a better life, and settled in Carlton, Victoria in the mid 1950’s. My two older brothers and I were born here in Fitzroy.

My paternal Great-grandfather was from Calabria and my maternal Great-grandfather from the Abbruzzo region. And then considering that I married a local girl whose family was originally from Sicilia, I would like to think that I have the Mezzogiorno region of Italy pretty much covered.

With over 30 years’ experience & expertise in the areas of finance, business planning & administration and risk management working for both listed (for-profit) & unlisted (not-for-profit) member-based organisations, I believe I can assist the Association achieve its strategic and governance objectives in preserving and promoting the Calabrese culture to & for all Australians.
