I was born in Footscray and was privileged to attend the 2016 AFL Grand Final. My father was from Treviso and my mother is from a village just outside Reggio Calabria (obviously they met in Australia).
I hold a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from Monash University and have recently retired after more than 30 years of service in public sector management and administrative decision making, including several years as a senior manager in the translating and interpreting industry.
My tapestry of interests include:
Ancient Roman history – My fascination lies in deciphering the enigmatic lives of senators, gladiators, and philosophers—their triumphs, intrigues, and inevitable decline. I have long since abandoned my attempts at learning Latin.
Wine Making – Within the rustic confines of my garage, I embark on oenological adventures. From grape clusters to oak barrels, I coax alchemy from fruit, striving for that perfect balance of tannins and terroir. Sometimes, I avoid creating wines which have a subtle bouquet of Vegemite.
Growing tomatoes – Each heirloom variety is a botanical tale—a sun-kissed memoir of soil, sun, and seasons. I nurture these vibrant orbs, celebrating their diversity on my kitchen table.
Writing a murder mystery – much of my former employment in the public service lends itself to much inspiration towards scenarios of homicide, which is best expiated in fiction form.
